LSMU Physiotherapy Student Snapshot
Alberto Ordoñez Cordoba, from Valencia, Spain
My name is Alberto Ordoñez Cordoba, I am from Valencia, Spain and I am studying Physiotherapy at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) for the exchange semester. I have always been a sporty guy who has been playing football since I was five years old. During this period, I have had a lot of injuries: sprains, strains, fractures, etc. So, the physiotherapist of my team tried to convince me to study Physiotherapy.
I chose LSMU because this University allowed me to do my practical training at „Kauno klinikos“. The first week here was a bit strange to me because I needed to get used to a lot of new things like the language or the way of working, but once I got used to it everything was perfect.
During my exchange period, I learned a lot of things: new techniques, new exercises, new methods of working, how to work with specific pathologies, etc. but the best lesson for me was understanding how to deal with patients and the need of giving the patients the best treatment.
I’m a person for whom the integration process is easy. Of course, I need a period of accommodation, but for me, it’s just one week. I’m a person who always tries to have everything under control, so I try to adapt myself to new changes as soon as possible. Having friends here has helped me a lot too.
I liked Kaunas more than I expected to like it. It’s a city that has everything: public means of transport, a good healthcare system, shops, own culture, places to go etc. People usually say that the weather is not good, but I disagree. I like cold weather and for me, it was an important decision to come here.
Despite the situation we are immersed in, I have travelled to Klaipėda, Palanga, Vilnius, Druskininkai, Jonava, Trakai, etc. There are lots of lakes and churches in the country. I am spending my time focusing on my studies, but at the same time, I am trying to find time to go out, travel and meet new people every opportunity I get.
