LSMU Study Programmes have been presented in Tel-Aviv
The Dean of the International Relations and Study Center Prof. Ingrida Janulevičienė and international programme coordinator Rūta Antanaitienė had visited Tel-Aviv, Israel, on January 9 – 14, 2020. The main task of the visit was to present study programmes of LSMU at the International Education Fair held by the University‘s partner „Medical Doctor International“. The annual Education Fair is usually held during the first weeks of January and year by year it becomes more popular between the young people of Israel. More than 300 of young people interested in biomedical studies abroad had gathered in the Fair‘s auditorium to listen for presentations done by the representatives of the Charles and Palacky Universities (Czeck Republic), Zagreb University (Croatia), Humanitas University (Italy), Vilnius University and Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. Professor Ingrida Janulevičienė had made an impressive overview on the study programmes taught in English at LSMU, highlighted the quality and specifics of teaching methods, mentioned the academic and psychological assistance given to the international students, and invited young people to join a great community of Jewish students studying at the University now. The invitation worked: the stand of LSMU has been crowded for hours. University‘s representatives are thankful for alumni Dudu Jagudaev and Ariel Krutouz, who took part at the University‘s stand and answered the questions of future students and their parents.
The most important criteria of LSMU admission is the Entrance Test. So, after the Education Fair University‘s representatives had arranged two examination sessions: one at the office of „Medical Doctor International Academy“ where the group of 40 applicants appeared to sit the test and the second session has been arranged for the individual applicants and the group of applicants recruited by the University‘s representative Philip Perlov (total 13). Both examination sessions were successful at least for the half of applicants and Offer Letters were issued to 22 students to study Medicine, to 5 students to study Odontology and one for the Veterinary Medicine. As we may realize from the results of entrance examinations, the most popular study programme between Israeli students is Medicine and only the best ones could be admitted at LSMU.
During the visit in Israel representatives of the International Relations and Study Center had met the Lithuanian Ambassador to Israel Mrs. Lina Antanavičienė and principal staff of the Embassy. The most common problems and future cooperation perspectives to secure the fluent recruitment of international students have been considered during the meeting at the Embassy.
International students amount to 18 percent of all LSMU students and each year the number increases. LSMU is increasingly being chosen as an attractive destination to study Medicine and Veterinary medicine by students, who are coming from over 65 various countries and Israel is the top country. The important mission of University academic staff is to ensure students’ supportive environment for education and leisure. One of the main goals is to provide high quality studies and education with possibilities to practice in any country worldwide. The experience of students is very important for the University because their feedback and recommendations, fulfilment of parent expectations are the key for recruitment of new students.
