Studies At Lsmu Presented In Ukraine

On October 19–23, LSMU representatives Julija Vasilenko-Maskvytė, International Program Coordinator at the International Relations and Study Center (IRSC), and Jevgenij Razgulin, psychologist, participated at the first live education fair this year Worl Edu, which took place in Kiev, Ukraine.

LSMU was invited to take a part in the fair by the Education Exchange Support Foundation (SMPF), which implements the Lithuanian higher education internationalization development project Study in Lithuania and helps Lithuanian higher education institutions recruit international students.

Great interest in LSMU study programs

During the education fair, young people, their parents and teachers were interested in various LSMU study programs offered in English, living conditions in Lithuania, and University support for students. Students who already possess a bachelor’s degree or are graduating from bachelor’s programs were interested in master’s degree programs at LSMU; there was a great  interest in government scholarships for Ukrainian citizens.

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas visited the fair and communicated with the representatives of 12 Lithuanian higher education institutions that took part at the fair.

Highly demanded online preparation courses

On October 21, representatives of LSMU presented the University study programs and news to the employees of the largest Ukrainian student recruitment agency STUDY.UA. Particular attention was given to online pre-med course for prospective health science students.

In the evening, Study in LT organized a reception for Lithuanian higher education partners in Ukraine and alumni from Lithuanian institutions. During the reception, the representatives of LSMU met with the Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Medicine, Associate Professor of Applied Medicine, LIUDMILA SABLINA, and ANDREY LOTAREV, Head of the International Office from KROK University in Kiev. MARYANA HRYTSIUK, Head of the Social Medicine and Public Health Department, Vice-Chancellor of International Affrairs

from Bukovinian State Medical University (Chernivtsi) also attended the meeting.

Opportunities for cooperation discussed

Opportunities for co-operation, student and teacher exchanges and the possibility to present LSMU master’s degree programs to bachelor’s students at these universities were discussed with the representatives. On the last day of the visit to Ukraine, LSMU representatives were invited to the European International University (IEU), where they met with the President of the University, FRANZ VLADIMIR VON HABSBURG-LOTHRINGEN, and the administration of IEU.

During the meeting, the possibilities of student and teacher exchange were discussed, and it was agreed that LSMU master’s programs will be presented to bachelor’s students of the university. Representatives of LSMU invited the IEU administration and staff to participate in the staff training and teaching week events organized by LSMU in spring.

It is expected that participation in education fairs and growing cooperation with student recruitment agencies and partners from other Ukrainian universities will help to attract new students to various study programs offered by LSMU and will promote greater mutually beneficial cooperation.
