Commemoration of Restoration of the State of Lithuania at LSMU
On 16 February, the Lithuanian Anthem echoed from the Z. Januškevičius hall, dedicated for the remembrance of restoring Lithuania as an autonomous/independent state. All representatives of the University gathered together in a ceremonial meeting to commemorate the occasion. Professor Remigijus Žaliūnas, rector of the University, welcomed the audience and spoke about the continuous work of the University in order to contribute to Lithuania’s power and global visibility. The chairman of the meeting, Professor Vilius Grabauskas, read out a congratulatory letter from the President of Lithuania, Ms. Dalia Grybauskaitė. This year Professor Vita Riškevičienė, dean of the Veterinary Faculty, presented the topic 'Veterinary doctors – the creators of independent Lithuania'. The University’s chaplain, Mr. Arūnas Jagelavičius, wished the audience peace.
Greetings from the Student Union came as a surprise at the beginning of the evening entertainment. The University’s creative arts groups led the remainder of the celebration.
