LSMU in International Educational Fair in Nicosia, Cyprus
The International Relations and Study Center staff members were delegated to Cyprus, Nicosia, for entrance exams and the Educational Fair during the period 26 February – 1 March.
The entrance exam was organized for two Cypriot students. One of them was interested in Veterinary Medicine programme and the other one – in Medicine. Based on the examination results, only one student was accepted to study medicine at LSMU. International office delegates were more than pleased to get to know our new student and meet her parents as well as answer to their questions. Moreover, a short presentation about our university and proposed study programmes, living expenses in Lithuania and possible leisure time activities etc. was given to educational consultants for studies abroad, our new student, and her parents. As Lithuania is still little known in Cyprus, the audience was very interested in the presentation and had a lot of questions to ask.
The International Educational Fair took place between 28 February and 1 March. The LSMU stand had a great interest especially due to Veterinary Medicine and Medicine programmes. Study programmes such as Odontology, Pharmacy and Nursing were also popular. Schoolchildren and their parents had a lot of questions regarding the study system, tuition fees, entrance examination, possibility to be transferred from the other university, as well as living expenses in Lithuania, possibility to receive a place at the university dormitory and students’ life. In addition, cooperation possibilities within the Erasmus+ programme were discussed with some medical schools in Europe.
Apart from study affairs, the Lithuanian delegates had a great honor to meet His Grace Bishop Gregorios of Mesaoria as well as an exclusive opportunity to visit the Archbishop’s Palace as it is not open to the public. During this meeting, study opportunities and the education system in Lithuania were discussed.
At the moment, there are 4 Cypriot students studying at LSMU. After this visit, it is expected the number to be increased.
