Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of LSMU is the only institution in Lithuania to award master’s degree and qualification in Veterinary Medicine, bachelor’s and master’s degree in Veterinary Food Safety. The Faculty offers studies of bachelor’s and master’s degree in Food Sciences since 2013. The Faculty has more than 1250 students.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has more than 80 years of deeply rooted traditions in teaching veterinary medicine and is a member of European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) since 2002.

The Programme of Veterinary Medicine conforms to the National Regulations, descriptions of the Common Requirements, and Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September 2005 on the recognition of professional qualifications and Directive 2013/55/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 November 2013 amending Directive 2005/36/EC.

Veterinary Medicine study programme of integral studies will form and develop competences necessary to carry out professional activity. Upon successful graduation of the study programme students obtain general and special competences. The volume of the Veterinary Medicine studies is 360 ECTS. Graduates of integral studies lasting 6 years are awarded with a qualification of the veterinary surgeon and master‘s qualification degree.
Residency of Veterinary Medicine. University offers 16 Veterinary Medicine Residency programmes. Professional specialisation is awarded.
PhD study programme of veterinary medicine. Doctoral students prepare a doctoral thesis (adequate to PhD) which is defended in accordance to the appropriate documents.

The Bachelor in Public Health is awarded. Purpose of studies – to prepare the qualified specialists of public health, who are able to apply the up-to-date scientific and practical achievements in the area of food safety, and to work successfully as the quality specialists in the chains of quality and safety securing of animal and non-animal food products, in the food companies, supermarkets, catering companies, as a specialist of public health in national and international institutions of various levels, in the scientific and educational institutions, laboratory, State Agency of Food and Veterinary and the subordinate institutions, public health centers, pharmaceutical companies, and departments of food supply.
Result of studies – the person, who completes the study program of Veterinary Food Safety and acquires a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, is able to solve practical issues of the quality and safety securing of animal and non-animal food products and raw materials in cooperation with the specialists of other areas.

Bachelor study programme |
The Bachelor in Food Sciences is awarded. Purpose of studies – to educate well qualified, open-minded for industrial and scientific innovations, understanding importance of healthy nutrition specialists for food chain who are capable in taking and realizing independent decisions in everyday professional life under the changing market conditions.
Master study programme |
The Master in Food Sciences is awarded. The aim of studies – focus to education of qualified professionals able to implement food research results to food factories, develop new products complying with demands of customers and satisfying needs of healthy nutrition, able manage human resources in the process, organise production process and quickly self-adjusting to continuously changing market.
Research
The Faculty pursues fundamental, applied scientific research, experimental development, other scientific activity endowing students with research skills, improving professional qualification of teachers and workers of science and creating conditions for supplementing the subjects with latest knowledge of science and practice.
Research areas:
